But it is possible. I am fan of the opera browser, so it was the first to download it, here the static version ( I was not sure which variant to use instead ). After that simple install it with
dpkg -i thefilename.deb

now you could run it by entering opera on the shell or add it as icon etc. ok, it's no simple way, but as long as the app store doesn't know opera or e.g. konqueror or safari it's the only way ;-)

i am an opera fan myself, and havent been able to install it using the .deb file. im stuck with firefox, since opera is not on presto's app store.

Is there a way to modify the screen dimensions or resolution? I followed the guide and was able to bring up the control panel, but I couldn't find a way to adjust it. The square screen configuration lops off the bottom and right portions of my view. At least so far, I can't seem to find a way to change that.

Thanks for any help!

Hi, thx a lot for the tip. Just gota say that Ithink that some of your steps just makes everything a little bit more messy, losin the *mac* feelin. Like, the icon box. You can already see all your applications running easily just by going to the windows list.

Anyway, thx a lot for a great tutorial :)

Look at the your task bar and press on the icon that looks like a screen. Then you can choose what screen resolution you like. Hope it works :)!

Best way of changing the res is to click Display in the XFCE settings manager, that way it remembers next time you boot.
